December 2025 — ATL, GA
This month, two of our team members — Nate McCalmont, Project Manager, and Steven Rousseau, Supply Chain Director — traveled to the Silver Cloud Quarry in the Atlanta area for an important visit tied to our ongoing Peace Corps Park project.
The Peace Corps Park is a congressionally authorized commemorative work in Washington, D.C., designed to honor the founding of the Peace Corps and the enduring American ideals of service, peace, and partnership. The park’s design includes three benches crafted from Silver Cloud granite, selected to reflect the unique combination of durability and aesthetic nuance that aligns with the project’s vision of global connection and legacy.

During the visit, Nate and Steven joined project partners on site at Silver Cloud to inspect, assess, and confirm the granite blocks that will be quarried and ultimately shaped into sculptural benches for the park. Silver Cloud granite — a world-renowned hard rock quarried near Atlanta — was carefully evaluated for grain pattern, structural integrity, and suitability for the park’s signature curved bench design.
“Seeing the stone firsthand and being part of the selection process gives us even more confidence as we move into the next stages of the Peace Corps Park project,” said Nate McCalmont. “Choosing the right stone is critical for both the aesthetics and long-term performance of these meaningful elements.”
The Peace Corps Commemorative Foundation recently announced that the granite has been purchased and procured, marking a significant milestone as the project transitions toward fabrication and eventual installation. The selected blocks are expected to be cut and prepared for transport to fabrication partners in the coming months.
