Last week, we were thrilled to host Rachele Pierini, a master craftswoman from Pietrasanta, Italy—home of Cervietti by Quarra, our newly acquired partner and long-time pillar of fine stone artistry. Known internationally for its historic marble workshops and links to legendary sculptors, Pietrasanta is a living testament to the enduring relevance of traditional craft in the modern age.
Rachele brought with her not only refined techniques honed through years of practice but also a passion for preserving and evolving the stoneworking traditions of Tuscany. Her visit marked a special moment for our Madison-based studio: a direct cultural exchange rooted in mentorship, mutual respect, and hands-on learning.
Throughout her stay, Rachele worked closely with our team of handworkers, demonstrating everything from subtle finishing techniques to her approach to texture, tone, and sculptural intent. For our artisans, the opportunity to learn from her wasn’t just an enhancement of skills—it was a chance to connect more deeply to the lineage of stonework that stretches back centuries.
At Quarra, we believe mentorship is foundational. Passing down knowledge from one generation to the next is not just how technique is preserved—it’s how craft evolves. Our partnership with Cervietti by Quarra has opened up new possibilities for training, collaboration, and innovation, and Rachele’s visit is only the beginning.
