Madison, WI – June 2025 — As part of its hands-on, client-centered approach to architectural stonework, Quarra Stone recently accompanied a client on a site visit to the Sierra White® quarry in Minnesota. Supply Chain Director Steven Rousseau represented Quarra during the visit, which marked a key milestone in the planning process for an upcoming large-scale project slated for completion in 2026.
The quarry visit was hosted by Dan Pfannenstein and the team at Coldspring USA, who provided a comprehensive tour of the site and shared insights into the sourcing and characteristics of Sierra White granite, renowned for its consistent color, durability, and timeless aesthetic. This iconic material has been used in landmark projects nationwide and will play a central role in the upcoming installation.
“For projects of this scale and visibility, it’s essential that we involve clients early in the material selection process,” said Rousseau. “Standing at the quarry face, examining the stone in situ, and discussing cut strategies directly with the producers helps build confidence, clarify intent, and inspire design solutions.”
The visit underscores Quarra Stone’s collaborative philosophy and commitment to excellence at every project stage—from sourcing and planning to fabrication and installation. It also reflects the company’s longstanding partnerships with domestic quarries and suppliers like Coldspring, which share Quarra’s focus on quality, precision, and architectural integrity.
More details about the project will be shared in the coming months as the design progresses and fabrication begins.
Quarry visits are a vital part of Quarra’s project workflow. They offer clients a unique opportunity to connect with the origins of their material and gain a deeper understanding of the craftsmanship involved.
