Each month, we take a moment to recognize the people who make Quarra Stone Company what it is. This month, we’re proud to celebrate the work anniversaries of JK Kleinhans and Eddie Banderas. Together they represent 56 years of experience, hard work, and commitment to our craft. Behind every project and every milestone are the people who show up day after day and make it all possible.
James Kleinhans | Senior Estimator
James “JK” Kleinhans, Senior Estimator, celebrating 37 years at Quarra Stone Company.
For 37 years, Jim “JK” Kleinhans has been a driving force at Quarra. As Senior Estimator, he has helped push the limits of what the company can do. He pairs extraordinary attention to detail with a big-picture mindset, and he has spent nearly four decades turning ambitious ideas into projects that keep expanding what Quarra can take on.
Steve Ensor, JK’s longtime friend and colleague, has seen that drive up close for a long time. The two have worked side by side for 25 years, and Steve still sees the same determination in JK that he remembers from JK’s days as a collegiate wrestler. As Steve puts it, JK has always had one speed: “GO!” That energy shows up in his work every day. He approaches every estimate with focus, urgency, and precision, and his teammates have come to rely on all three.
JK’s love of a good challenge doesn’t stop at the office. At home, he enjoys taking on his own construction projects. Whether he’s working through an estimate or building something himself, he brings the same practical mindset and the same willingness to figure things out.
For JK, one of the best parts of Quarra is the size of the team. Over 37 years he has watched the company grow and change, and he has kept working alongside the people who make it all happen. His coworkers sum up his impact simply: “Quarra Stone would not be near what it is today without his vigorous and sensible approach to the job.”

Eddie Banderas | Shipping
Eddie Banderas, Shipping, celebrating 19 years at Quarra Stone Company.
For 19 years, Eddie Banderas has helped move projects from our shop to wherever they go next. When asked about a project that stands out from his time at Quarra, Eddie pointed to the dismantling of Confederate statues in Virginia. For him, though, it isn’t about any one project. What matters is the chance to put his mind and hands to whatever comes his way, take on the work in front of him, and see it through.
That mindset has put Eddie at the center of projects that have become part of history. After nearly two decades in Shipping, he has had a front-row seat to countless projects, materials, and moments that reach far beyond the shop.
One coworker has worked alongside Eddie for all 19 of those years. They describe him as someone the team can always count on: a diligent, conscientious member of the Shipping team who gets the job done on time. Just as important, Eddie brings plenty of personality to the workplace, and his coworkers appreciate his fun-loving nature.
Outside of work, Eddie enjoys fishing, cars, making money, and building things. Whether he’s working with his hands at Quarra or on his own projects, he likes to stay busy, take on new challenges, and see what he can create.
